"photography should never be a one-way transaction. it’s important to hire a photographer who thinks intuitively, feels genuinely, and understands the vision behind your day. photographers are translators. they bridge the gap between what's being shown in front of them and weaving imagery into memory. it's always my goal to establish an inclusive environment for couples to feel valued and their love story's heard because once couples feel understood, then photographing them becomes easy. how in-tune they are with the present moment, ultimately allows for real emotion to flow seamlessly."

5/25/24 grace + mason - wedding

“My husband loves our engagement and wedding photos, more than he has ever loved any photo of himself. He said he felt safe and comfortable and able to be happy in them, mainly because of Alison. From the very moment we met Alison, we knew she was different. She made us laugh and smile while doing her job in the most effective, collected, and creative way. It’s hard to find someone who can photograph the feeling of love—but Alison does. Her ideas are unique and vary by the couple, meaning you’re never going to get the same picture someone else has—and isn’t that lovely? She handles chaotic families and last minute changes like a champion, and accepts suggestions, which is a rare for a photographer. She made us feel loved and beautiful, and encouraged us to take moments to ourselves to enjoy the day. We literally cannot stop looking at our photos, and will be looking at them for years to come. I have never been so confident in a decision as when we hired Alison. She made every memory perfect. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

6/22/24 ashley + jack - wedding

“Alison did such an incredible job. I’ve spent hours looking at the photos and I’m at a loss for words over them. I can’t even formulate a sentence to accurately describe my gratitude and love for these photos. To say they are beautiful feels like an extreme understatement. Every time I look at them I cry! They send me straight back to the day and that is priceless. The super 8 video was the cherry on top. It was great to hear the speeches again and it was such a unique take on the details of the day! Thank you again for all you did, Alison! She is very good at what she does and we would highly recommend her.”

6/9/24 emma + lila - senior session

“What makes Alison such a special photographer is that when she is behind her lens, it’s not about the photo; it’s about the feeling. Alison didn’t just photograph an incredible moment in time for Lila and me; she captured the essence of our sisterhood. We are giggly and goofy, and our photos show that and so much more. I could write review after review about Alison and always find something new to share, but at the end of every review, the sentiment is the same: I hope that she will be there to capture many more memories in the future because there is no one else who quite ~gets it~ as she does.”

10/4/22 katherine + diggy - micro-wedding

“our experience with alison was absolutely fantastic! from the moment we met her, she exuded warmth and friendliness, making us feel instantly comfortable. throughout the entire process, she consistently prioritized us, ensuring that our preferences and vision for the day were at the forefront. she has a remarkable skill for framing and editing photos. each image she captured exuded a palpable sense of love and emotion, which beautifully encapsulated the essence of our special day. we couldn't be happier with her work and the cherished memories she has preserved for us. she is undoubtedly a gem in the world of wedding photography!”

8/20/22 karrington + nick - wedding

“our experience with alison was amazing! she’s so creative and thinks on her feet! She beautifully captured our big day, you wouldn’t be able to tell it rained. she kept us laughing and there was never a dull moment. We now have pictures to preserve memories that will last a lifetime! We can’t say thank her enough!”

7/15/20 victoria + ross - engagement session

“it was a wonderful and incredibly fun experience working with alison! she held a high degree of professionalism and had a creative idea for every shot we wanted for our engagement photos. she has an eye for capturing the spirit of her couples amongst breathtaking scenery. we love our photos and absolutely recommend her!”

6/4/22 aubrey + james - adventure session

“alison is awesome! we had so much fun working with her and we love how our photos turned out. they are everything we hoped for and more! alison helped us with all the posing and made us feel so comfortable. We really appreciate all the thought and creativity that went into every photo.”

“Working with Alison is all I could’ve asked for and more. The lengths Alison goes to make you comfortable in front of the camera (and in general) is not unnoticed!! The way she captured us makes me feel a way i can’t explain! I will cherish these photos forever.”

the process

01 / meeting

after you've inquired with me, we will schedule a virtual meeting to discuss your vision and to see if we will be a good fit. during this introductory call, you can ask as many questions as you would like so i highly suggest coming prepared with questions. once we've scheduled a meeting, i will then send over my updated pricing guide.

02 / planning

once you're ready to book, i will send over a digital contract for you to sign and pay the non-refundable deposit. your date is not secured until the contract has been signed and the non-refundable deposit paid. once both of those things have been signed and sealed, then the planning process will begin! you will receive 24/7 access to my personal cell phone number where you can ask any questions via text or phone call at any time. we’ll meet 1-2 more times virtually to put together a detailed timeline of your event.

03 /  day of

during one of our pre-planning calls, we will put together a timeline that will resemble the overall flow of the day. however, the timeline must remain a loose and ever changing outline because sometimes unforeseeable things happen and we need wiggle room to pivot. as your photographer, i will not enforce the timeline so to stay open to change in case we need to shift things. plus, rigid schedules may take away from the present moment.

04 / afterwards

once the big day is over, you can expect sneak peeks within a week and your full photo gallery within 4-6 weeks. sometimes longer depending on how busy i am. you will be notified if your gallery will be delayed any longer than 4-6 weeks. take some time to be in love, decompress, and then get excited to relive your day all over again. i cannot wait to work with you!

here’s an in-depth explanation of my gear list. the main cameras i shoot on for digital work are the fujifilm gfx 50sii and the fujigilm x100v.  for 35mm film, i shoot on a contax g2,  2 contax g1's, and the fujiga 645 zi for 120 film. the lenses i use are the fujifilm gfx 80mm f1.7, the fujifilm gfx 16-55mm f2.8, the contax 28mm f2.8, the contax 45mm f2.8, and the contax 90mm f2.8 lens. i also use the fujifilm godox v.1 flash as my go-to external flash for my digital body. i also shoot on the polaroid and a refurbished super 8mm camera.

01 / what do you shoot on?

go back

the reason why i shoot film is on my about page, but depending on the event, the couple, and the circumstance, there are situations where i do shoot both digital and film. since film photography is the foundation of digital photography, understanding both makes me feel more connected to the cameras i am shooting on. once i started perceiving the world through these different lenses (figuratively and physically), i realized how the outcome of your photographs has everything to do with the connection you have to your craft.

02 / why do you only shoot film and do you shoot digital at all?

go back

03 / do you mostly shoot weddings, or do you also shoot other stuff?

my main focus is weddings, micro-weddings, and elopements. i also shoot engagement sessions, adventure sessions, maternity sessions (but only for past clients), and the occasional senior session (high school seniors). i have decided to scale down on how many weddings/wedding related events so to not burn out. what i don’t shoot are grad sessions (college grads), boudoir sessions, and family photos (as in large family photos).

go back

i take on around 20 weddings a year, depending on the size. sometimes more if they're smaller events like elopements. inquire with me soon if you want me to shoot your wedding before i fill up!

04 / how many weddings do you take a year?

go back

i want to be able to unconditionally serve you
which is why i only offer one package for both my local and destination weddings. there is only one all-inclusive package which can be customized if need be. this allows me to be more intentional with my couples and also helps me combat burn out.

05/ why do you only offer one all inclusive package for micro-weddings + elopements?

go back

i am located in salem, or and i am originally from bozeman, mt. i most certainly travel for work. inquire with me about my destination prices if you’re interested in having me come shoot your wedding or elopement outside of oregon. you can also check out my travel schedule located on my about me page if you'd like to book your wedding or elopement in a location i am already traveling to and receive zero travel fees.

06 / where are you located and do you travel?

go back

07 / how many photos will i get back and what’s your turnaround time?

typically, you’ll receive a minimum of 100 digital scans from 10-15 rolls of film. film can be unpredictable sometimes so there is a possibility that not everything will be captured.  my normal turnaround time is 4-6 weeks but this may change if i become really busy. you can also add on super 8 coverage to any package, if that's something you're interested in. however, this is not a full length wedding video. our super 8 footage will be made into a short highlight video which are snippets of your day compiled into a video. see the information page for examples.

go back

08/ if my partner and i are super shy infront of the camera, do you help with posing and camera shyness?

it is totally okay if you’re nervous or uncomfortable being in front of a camera. i will try my best to direct you through movements that feel natural to the two of you. i shy away from the term “posing” because that word makes everything feel like it has to be staged in order for it to be beautiful. i want to capture the two of you as you are. i recommend scheduling an engagement/adventure session with me before your big day to work through some of your nervousness.

go back

09 / do you help plan elopements and micro-weddings or do you just take photos?

i can help plan elopements and micro-weddings to the extent of photos, but i am not a wedding or elopement planner. what i offer are curated packages that reflect couples’ needs in terms of what they want photography wise. i help with things like timeline assistance, vendor recommendations, and location scouting. what i don’t do is coordinate with other vendors (outside of letting the wedding coordinator if there is one, what the timeline looks in terms of photos) or help plan the vision of your elopement or micro-wedding.

go back

10 / where should we take our engagement photos? and do you offer complimentary engagement sessions in any of your wedding packages?

the location of your shoot should be up to the two of you. is there someplace you would like to go? somewhere you haven’t been but have always wanted to? or maybe somewhere you have been and want to go back? is there someplace that is special or significant to your relationship? all of these questions are things to think about when choosing your location. we can also discuss more about this once you’ve scheduled a meeting with me. i do not offer complimentary sessions for weddings or elopements. all engagement sessions are add-ons.

go back

11 / where did you learn photography?

when i was a senior in high school, i took a dark room class and fell in love with film and continued my love for film photography in college. i did three years of undergrad seeking a degree in art (becasue my small liberal arts college didn’t have a photography program, so i decided to major in art with a specialization in film photography), but then covid-19 happened and i just didn’t have it in me to continue with school. i needed to connect with people, thus ace photography was born during the pandemic.
