my approach

photography should never be a one-way transaction. it’s important to hire a photographer who thinks intuitively and feels genuinely. being able to capture and freeze raw and intimate moments through a documentary approach not only elevates the experience of nostalgia but also makes one realize that a genuine relationship with whoever is shooting your wedding or elopement, really makes all the difference. establishing an inclusive environment for couples to feel valued and their love stories heard ultimately allows for raw emotion and connection to flow seamlessly. thus setting the stage for many picture-perfect moments.

my process

the meeting

01 /

before we begin planning anything, it is so important to me that we schedule a meeting either in person or virtually to make sure we are going to be a good fit. some of the things we discuss are the vision whether that be a wedding, an elopement, or a session and not only what you want it to look like, but how do you want it to feel. once we've scheduled a meeting, i will send over my customized pricing guide based off of your vision.

beforehand

02 /

if we both feel as though our values align, then i will send over a contract for you to sign and pay the non-refundable deposit. your date is not secured until the contract has been signed and the non-refundable deposit paid. once both of those things have been signed and sealed, the planning process will begin! you will receive 24/7 access to my personal cell phone number where you can ask any questions via text or phone call at any time. we’ll also meet up at least two more times (at minimum) in person or virtually to go over timeline and details leading up to your wedding, elopement, or session.

 the day of

03 /

when your special day arrives, i will do everything that i can to stick to our timeline, however, this day is about being with the person you love and everyone involved wants to celebrate the two of you, including myself! being a documentary photographer means being fully present with my couples and of course, we can plan as much as possible but let's face it, sometimes things don't always go to plan and we're just going to have to adapt to different situations.

afterwards

04 /

once the big day is over, you can expect your photo gallery to be delivered within 4-6 weeks. sometimes longer depending on how busy i am. take some time to be in love, decompress, and then get excited to relive your day all over again. i cannot wait to work with you!

frequently asked questions

what do you shoot on?

01 /

this is the number one question i get asked all the time so here’s an in depth explanation of my gear list. the main camera’s i shoot on are the fujifilm gfx 50sii, the fujifilm xt-4, and the nikon teletouch smart flash af, (film camera). the lenses i use are the fujifilm gfx 80mm f1.7 and the fujifilm xf 16-55mm f2.8. i also use the fujifilm godox v.1 flash as my go-to external flash. i am currently saving up for new gear so my gear list will probably be changing.

frequently asked questions

why do you shoot digital and film?

02 /

shooting in a hybrid method helps me be more intentional with the shots i get. digital photography is fast and has instant results, whereas film photography is slow-paced and has the surpirse factor where you don’t really know how your photos are going to turn out. since film photography is the foundation of digital photography, understanding where the digital world came from makes me feel more connected to the camera i am shooting on and also how that camera captures people. once i started perceiving the world through these different lenses (figuratively and physically), i realized how the outcome of your photographs has everything to do with your connection to your craft.

frequently asked questions

do you mostly shoot weddings and elopements or do you also shoot other stuff?

03 /

my main focus is elopements and mirco-weddings but i also shoot engagement sessions, adventure sessions, self-love sessions (which are very different from boudoir sessions), portraits like headshots, the occasional family/maternity session, and the occational senior session. i used to shoot alot of weddinfs but have decided to scale down and mostly focus on elopements and micro-weddings. what i don’t shoot are grad sessions (college grads), boudoir sessions, and family photos (as in large family photos). something i have been getting into recently is brand photos and working with small businesses to create social media content.

frequently asked questions

how many weddings do you take a year?

04 /

i take on 10 big weddings a year which leaves room for me to solely focus on micro-weddings, elopements, and engagement/adventure sessions. inquire with me soon if you want me to shoot your wedding!

frequently asked questions

what’s the difference between an engagement session and an adventure session?

05 /

when people think of engagement sessions, the first thing that comes to mind are couples photos to announce the engagement which can include the actual proposal. adventure sessions are typically just casual couples sessions in a beautiful location where couples could already be engaged or even married. you basically just want epic photos of the two of you.

frequently asked questions

where are you located and do you travel?

06 /

i am located in bozeman, mt and i most certainly travel for work. if you book me in bozeman or the surrounding area or in a place i am already traveling to, you do not have to pay any travel fees. inquire with me about my destination prices if you’re interested in having me come shoot your wedding or elopement outside of montana.

frequently asked questions

how many photos will i get back and what’s your turnaround time?

07 /

each package is curated to every couples’ specific needs so sometimes the amount of photos differ from package to package and this is the same for how many hours you want me for. you’ll receive anywhere from 100 - 400 + digital photos and 10 - 50 film photos in your digital gallery (this could change because my style of photography is becoming more centered around film photography). my normal turnaround time is 4-6 weeks but this may change if i become really busy. all film will be uploaded to your digital gallery and it’s up to you whether or not you would like your negatives sent to you via mail.

frequently asked questions

if my partner and i are super shy infront of the camera, do you help with posing and camera shyness?

08 /

it is totally okay if you’re nervous or uncomfortable being infront of a camera. my partner and i model for styled shoots (mock weddings and elopements hosted by photographers for photographers to practice shooting) which has helped me understand exactly how my couples feel. i will try my best to direct you through movements that feel natural to the two of you. i shy away from the term “poses” because posing makes it seem like everything has to be staged. i want to capture the two of you as you are. i recommend scheduling an engagement/adventure session with me months or even years before your wedding. that way i know how to best shoot you before the big day.

frequently asked questions

do you help plan elopements and micro-weddings ordo you just take photos?

09 /

i do help plan elopements and micro-weddings but i am not a wedding or elopement planner. what i offer are a curated packages that reflect couples’ needs in terms of what they want photography wise. i help with things like timeline assistance, vendor recommendations, and location scouting. what i don’t do is coordinate with other vendors or help plan the vision of your elopement but i can help with the overall feeling you want your photos to portray.

frequently asked questions

where should we take our engagement photos? and do you offer complimentary engagement sessions in any of your wedding packages?

10 /

the location of your shoot should be up to the two of you. is there someplace you would like to go? somewhere you haven’t been but have always wanted to? or maybe somewhere you have been and want to go back? is there someplace that is special or significant to your relationship? all of these questions are things to think about when choosing your location. we can also discuss more about this once you’ve scheduled a meeting with me. and no, i do not offer complimentary sessions for weddings or elopements.

frequently asked questions

where did you learn photography?

11 /

when i was a senior in high school, i took a dark room class and fell in love with film and continued my love for film photography in college. i did three years of undergrad seeking a degree in art (becasue my small liberal arts college didn’t have a photography program so i decided to major in art) but then covid-19 happened and i just didn’t have it in me to continue with school. i needed to connect with people thus ace photography was born during the pandemic.
