intimate & authentic documentation for all things human
i have always experienced the world through feeling and photography to me is like a second language. i like describing how something felt, smelled, or tasted in that particular moment through imagery and then somehow weaving it all into one visual narrative. that's why photographing weddings/elopements are so intriguing to me. there's always more than one way to document a wedding day.
outside of my job, you’d probably find me thrifting, cuddling with my cats, doing something crafty with my hands, strolling around a farmers market, journaling by the sea, car camping in my grandma's 2002 subaru, dancing around in my pj's, collecting national park postcards, splashing in puddles, watching anything directed by wes anderson or hayo miyasaki, traveling around the world, or eating burritos with my partner of 7 years.
i also love anything and everything to do with film photography! read below to understand why.
a note from the artist
why film?
my excitement towards film photography used to be about the process. i remember the feeling of picking up my first film camera (back in 2017), shooting my first roll of film, developing it myself in THE darkroom, and creating prints from the negatives. nowadays, because i don't have access to a darkroom, i'm removed from the developing process which has reshaped my experience with film and how the shooting process has been an adventure of its own.
it's hard to describe why i am drawn to film photography because it's like trying to describe a color without using the name of the color to describe it. the feeling i get when i shoot film is intangible and ineffable, and yet so simple and real. shooting film is like listening to music on vinyl.
it's scratchy and soft, playful and poetic, rudimentary and complicated. it amplifies the feeling of nostalgia because it's un-replicable and sometimes unpredictable. this makes (in my opinion) for some unique photos that truly reflect what's right in front of you.
film photography, especially on wedding days, helps me to slow down and compose my images differently. i can be a little more meticulous with my shots which makes me feel proud and more connected to the work i am creating. almost every single shot i've composed on film, i can remember taking, which feels so special to me.
my partner jacob and i did long distance for 2 years and even though we were far apart, the moments we captured on film are some of my favorites. during a time when we couldn't physically be together, those photos brought us closer because of the way they made us feel in that moment. looking back at them now, that period in our lives looks nostalgic and our photos almost romanticize our time a part because we're able to remember the feeling of taking those images and the feeling of longing to be together.

“from start to finish, our experience working with alison was an absolute delight. from the moment we met, it was clear that she not was only passionate about her craft but also genuinely excited to explore the beauty of glacier national park with us. her easygoing demeanor put us at ease which created an atmosphere of collaboration and creativity. her familiarity with the park allowed us to explore hidden gems, resulting in photographs that felt like undiscovered treasures. she had an exceptional eye for composition and balancing the natural wonders of the park, all the while capturing justin and i’s love. she made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and guided us with gentle prompts the entire time. it felt more like a day spent with a friend than a photoshoot, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. we left with not only stunning photos but also a deeper appreciation for the art of photography. thank you again, alison!”
“from start to finish, our experience working with “We had Alison as our photographer for our wedding. She was fantastic and made everyone feel comfortable as soon as she arrived. Joe and I are not used to being in front of a camera but with Alison’s direction and poses the pictures came back looking like we were in a wedding magazine. Highly recommend Alison as your photographer!”
“Alison was a pleasure to work with on our wedding day as well as the months leading up to it. She carefully thought out poses and made us feel comfortable the entire time. She was professional and kept the group on schedule. We would recommend Alison to anyone else planning a wedding or any other special event!”
“Alison was a wonderful photographer. She was very conscientious at the wedding and was able to catch the important parts of the wedding without being seen, she just knew when and where to be. She was also extremely flexible and willing to make adjustments to enhance the uniqueness of our day.”

“Our experience with Alison, our wedding photographer, was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we met her, she exuded warmth and friendliness, making us feel instantly comfortable. Throughout the entire process, she consistently prioritized us, ensuring that our preferences and vision for the day were at the forefront. One of the standout qualities of Alison was her remarkable skill in framing and editing photos. Each image she captured exuded a palpable sense of love and emotion, which beautifully encapsulated the essence of our special day. Her expertise truly shone through, especially when we encountered unexpected challenges like rain and schedule changes. Alison's flexibility and professionalism in navigating these hurdles ensured that our wedding day remained stress-free and memorable.
